About Lizzie Rutland

Lizzie has lived on the Wirral all her life, and has been creating art from a young age. She focused on painting at GCSE and A-level, and continued her studies and practice at Wirral Metropolitan College.
Her themes are loosely centred around the Gothic horror genre, and she is inspired by the tales of Edger Allan Poe, Mary Shelley, and others by whom her imagination is inspired.
I often start out with only a vague idea of what I want to create based on preliminary sketches and then allow myself to see where the work takes me. My painting process is full of fun and energy and this is often reflected by the state of my work space when I have finished! I have recently completed an Art Foundation course at college with a view to pursuing a creative career in the future.
Also, birds.
When she isn't painting, Lizzie works part time at the Holy Mackerel Tattoo Cafe, where patrons are thrilled by the darkness of her coffee.
